Research

The research in the Zhou group at Sichuan University focuses on coordination chemistry, catalytic chemistry, and materials chemistry involving heavy main-group elements. Taking lessons from transition-metal chemistry, we are devoted to synthesizing novel heavy main-group compounds with different valence, geometry, and reactivity via elegant ligand design, and to employing these compounds in small molecule activation and unusual main-group redox catalysis. Given the recent progress of heteroatom doped π-conjugated materials, we are also interested in the utility of heavy main-group compounds in materials.
